With Sunderland Restaurant Week just around the corner, I was kindly invited along to some of the fantastic restaurants to preview their menus. So alongside some other local bloggers, we headed to three different restaurants, one for each course!
Before I get into the yummy food on offer, here's a quick breakdown of what Sunderland Restaurant Week is all about:
Sunderland Restaurant Week gives you the opportunity to try out some new local restaurants, at affordable prices. With over 40 restaurants participating, you can eat out for as little as £5, £10 and £15 per person with their fantastic offers! All of this will be taking place between the 8th and the 16th of September.
Now onto the food!
STARTERS AT THE PEACOCK
Sometimes you can't beat good old pub grub! The Peacock is a great place to pop into with the family and enjoy a nice plate of food with a lovely homely atmosphere. The amazing staff at The Peacock went above and beyond in welcoming us and presented us with a fantastic array of starters!
For Restaurant Week The Peacock are offering two courses for only £10!
Mains at The GROSVENOR CASINo
Next we headed to The Grosvenor Casino to try out their main courses. I opted for the classic Cod N Chips with a generous side of mushy peas. The dish was well cooked and very well presented. I also tried out their Caesar Salad which was very tasty, and I could have easily eaten the full portion to myself! Some other mains on offer were Hunters Chicken, Roast Vegetable Couscous and a Falafel and Spinach Burger which all looked fantastic.
The Grosvenor Casino have in my opinion, one of the best deals on currently. For only £12 you can grab yourself an alcoholic drink, a main course AND a cinema ticket, what a bargain! This would make for a fab evening out with your friends or family for such an affordable price.
DESSERTS AT THE LOOKING GLASS
Finally, we finished our evening at one of the most gorgeous places I've ever eaten, The Looking Glass. As you can probably tell by the name, this little gem is Alice in Wonderland themed! Before we even sampled any foods and drinks, we spent a good 10 minutes wandering around the place in awe of how pretty it was!
For dessert I opted for the classic chocolate cake with cream which was heavenly and a very generous portion. Other desserts on the menu included chocolate orange tarte, carrot cake and rocky road! They also have a fantastic selection of hot drinks including various flavours and brews of tea and some yummy hot chocolates!
Overall I was very impressed with each course and I would highly recommend checking out all three. You can find a full list of the restaurants participating in Restaurant Week here.
Which dish would you most like to try from the above?
