It's no secret that I love travelling, and something I've always wanted to do is go on a proper road trip. The kind where you pack up your things, throw them into the boot of your car and head off! No shortcuts, just exploring everywhere on ground level. Road trips give you the freedom and flexibility that you just can't find elsewhere.
Now it goes without saying, you still need to make sure you're 100% prepared for your journey should you decide to take the plunge and go on a road trip. The most important thing without a doubt, is making sure your car is in the best condition possible before heading off. I'd recommend getting a car service from Kwik Fit who will make sure everything is running smoothly so you'll run into no problems and avoid any breakdowns. You can also take a look at their handy little e-Book which not only lists some fantastic road trip destinations, but also covers everything you need to know safety wise with some great tips!
Europe holds some of THE best road trip routes to create those unforgettable memories and honestly, it was soooo hard to narrow this list down, but I've somehow managed! So here are my top three european road trips:
TROLLSTIGEN, NORWAY
Also known as 'Trolls Path', Trollstigen is famous for being one of the most scenic road trips in Europe. The road connects the town of Ã…ndalsnes to the village of Valldalen. With its winding roads and impressive twists and turns, you'll be able to experience all the beauty Norway has to offer from mountains, to bridges and even Stigfossen waterfall. This route is supported by stone walls and carved from the mountains, so it's worth noting you may encounter tumbling rocks, and treacherous terrain, however it sill offers unforgettable sights than attract large numbers every summer.
Amalfi Coast, ITaly
We all know how much I'm dying to visit Italy, so of course this was going to be on my bucket list! The Amalfi Coast offers something different from town to town. It’s the perfect mix of history, architecture, food (like seriously, give me all the pasta), and scenery that makes the Amalfi Coast so desirable. Plus, it gives you the chance to tick off so many fantastic towns from your bucket list. This is definitely the kind of vacation where you're going to have a very full itinerary!
Route 500, Germany
This beautiful drive cuts through the midst of the infamous Black Forest and connects Feldberg to Waldkirch and offers some of the most picturesque views in Germany. The journey is a smooth one through the mountains, where you can take a dip in the thermal springs of Baden, visit Hohenbaden Castle, and explore the eastern edge of the Northern Black Forrest. This is for sure going to be the trip where you capture those perfect 'Kodak moments' that you'll be bragging about to your friends and family for months!
Like I said previously, it was so hard to narrow it down to just three routes as there are so many more fantastic places Europe has to offer, so I'd definitely recommend checking out the e-Book for some more great road trip ideas!
Where would you most like to go on a European Road Trip?
