It goes without saying that chunky knits are an absolute must at this time of year. I physically cannot cope at this time of year without lots and lots of layers! The only thing I tend to struggled with when it comes to Autumn/Winter is how to obtain that balance of keeping warm, whilst still looking stylish. As I'm getting older I've come to release winter fashion is more about making use of those classic pieces, such as your knitwear and making them your own.
Knitwear is something I definitley thought was 'nothing exciting' and made me dislike winter fashion to be honest. However, as I've grown into my style, knitwear can definitley take your outfit to another level and make great transitional pieces between seasons. Plus, they work no matter the occasion! Of course they're great for day to day wear - work days, weekends with the family, and shopping trips with your friends. But they're so easy dress up with a pair of trousers and heels for events, Christmas parties, and evening meals.
Here are some of the most versatile knitwear pieces no matter what the occasion, and they're ALL under £25!
The Monochrome Knits
A must have in everyone's wardrobe, and probably the most versatile piece you can own in winter. The monochrome knits give you the option of switching from day to evening with ease. Think straight from the office, to drinks with the girls. The 'lack of colour' palette, means these knits go with pretty much anything and everything, making them one of your most worn pieces.
Bright & Colourful Knits
Of course, if monochrome isn't really our thing, then why not add a pop of colour to brighten up a usual gloomy winters day. Neon tones and bright colours are all the rage this year so you'll still be on trend whilst being snuggly and warm. Choosing a colourful knitwear piece adds a little more fun and charm into an outfit. Not to mention, it's a great option for the festive party season!
Patterned Knits
One thing I've recently started adding more to in my wardrobe is a good patterned knit. I have to admit I'm not usually a fan of daring prints and designs on jumpers, and still definitely prefer a more classic, minimal knit. However, picking a print with the right colour palette can take a jumper from 'tacky' to 'chic' in a matter seconds. Try opting for the more muted and neutral tones.
Chunky Cardigans
Moving away from jumpers, another must have in your winter wardrobe is a classic chunky cardigan.
It's a great option for adding layers, and depths to an outfit to get that cosy and chic look. I'd probably say they're more of a day time piece as I'd opt for a blazer to layer with on an evening instead.
Jumper Dresses
And finally we have the good old jumper dress. If like me, you're someone who prefers to get their legs out, jumper dresses are the way to go. They're great with a blazer for office hours and then some chunky trainers, or boots for the weekend. Not to mention they're the most cosy thing ever to curl up in on the sofa watching christmas movies!
