I'm always on the lookout for the most unique stays and accommodation when planning a trip in my local area. I recently spend a couple of days near Alnwick and wanted to fully immerse myself in the beautiful Northumberland countryside to relax and recharge away from city life. Which is why I stayed at one of Doxford Farm's Luxury Glamping Pods.
Doxford Farm
Doxford Farm Campsite is a family run business based in rural Northumberland. You can of course come along in your own motorhome, or you can stay in one of their Bell Tents or Luxury Glamping Pods. All options provided the ultimate relaxing getaway with picturesque settings, beautiful wildlife and countryside walks for all the family (including pets). Just be mindful that this is a working farm, so make sure to respect the marked walking paths when out with children and dogs.
Luxury Glamping Pod
I recently spent a night in one of their Luxury Glamping Pods - spoiler, it was fantastic. If you're someone who wants that country life experience but aren't keen on camping, then the glamping pods are for you! Doxford Farm have created these pods with the perfect mix of modern home comforts whilst still maintain the rustic charm of outdoor life. I stayed in the 'Boothill' pod which sleeps two, but there are pods that sleep four so you can bring the kids don't worry! As previously mentioned, you can also bring along your dogs too.
Each pod uniquely decorated, but is equipped with everything you'd need for a night in the countryside. You can still enjoy your home comforts such as WiFi, TV and King Sized Bed when staying. The Luxury Boothill Pod also had a Shower and Free Standing Bathtub and the foot of the bed so you are truly spoilt for choice. The kitchen and dining area was beautifully decorated with a neon sign, bright colours and everything you could possible need such as a Mini Fridge, Gas Hob, Belfast Sink, and every utensil to make the perfect meal!
Each pod has it's own outdoor space too with a grass pitch and decking. I really appreciated the addition of the outdoor lighting around the site, and on our pod and decking. Sitting outside on a summers night and watching the sun go down is truly an experience. Outside you'll also find a Bistro Dining table and chairs and a BBQ/Firepit.
Nearby Attractions
One of the best things about staying at Doxford Farm Campsite, is the various attractions and historical towns nearby. Rural Northumberland has so much to offer that staying here would make an ideal base for exploring all the local areas. Here are just a few of the towns/sights nearby:

- Farne Islands
