If you're like me and dream of a peaceful weekend break, then a farm stay may be the answer! Cottages, Lodges and Farms are a very popular staycation choice for the winter months. Not only will you find some of the most unique and charming accommodations, but you are also usually surrounded by breathtaking views and fully immersed in nature.
The first step in planning your winter farm stay is choosing the right location. North Yorkshire is a large county, so it's important to research and decide which area you want to stay in. If you're looking for a peaceful and secluded retreat, consider staying in the Yorkshire Dales or the North York Moors. If you prefer to be closer to amenities and attractions, opt for a stay near the city of York. I'd personally recommend checking out the area of Thirsk in North Yorkshire.
Accommodations
One of the best things about a farm stay is the unique and cosy accommodations. From traditional farmhouses to converted barns, there are a variety of options to choose from. Many farm stays also offer self-catering options, allowing you to cook your own meals with fresh, local ingredients. This is a great way to fully immerse yourself in the farm experience and support local businesses.
Low Cleaves Cottages have some great properties located on a family run farm, that is only a short drive to the local town and shops, whilst also having brilliant hikes and trails on the doorstep. The Old Dairy is a dog friendly property which is modernly decorated, spacious and has the most beautiful open garden with incredible views - perfect for your pup!
Local Attractions
While the farm stay itself may be the main attraction, there are also plenty of things to do and see in the surrounding areas. Visit the historic city of York and explore its charming streets and landmarks. Or take a trip to the coast and enjoy the beautiful beaches and seaside towns. You can also visit local markets and shops to purchase handmade goods and support local businesses. North Yorkshire also has various winter walks and trails to explore to see local wildlife, incredible views and enjoy nature,
